മ്യാന്‍മറിലും ബാങ്കോക്കിലും ഭൂചലനത്തില്‍ മരണം 1002 കടന്നു. 1670 പേര്‍ക്ക് പരുക്കേറ്റെന്നും റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകള്‍. മ്യാന്‍മറില്‍മാത്രം 694 മരണം ഭരണകൂടം സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു. ഭൂകമ്പത്തില്‍ തകര്‍ന്നടിഞ്ഞ ആറ് പ്രവിശ്യകളില്‍ രക്ഷാപ്രവര്‍ത്തനം തുടരുകയാണ്. മരണസംഖ്യ ഉയരുമെന്നാണ് സൂചന. അതിനിടെ ബാങ്കോക്കില്‍ നിര്‍മാണത്തിലിരുന്ന 30നില കെട്ടിടം തകര്‍ന്ന് മരിച്ചവരുടെ എണ്ണം 11 ആയി. 117പേര്‍ ഇപ്പോഴും അവശിഷ്ടങ്ങള്‍ക്കിടയിലാണ്.

ഭൂകമ്പമാപിനിയില്‍ 7.7 തീവ്രത രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയ ഭൂചലനം ഇന്നലെയാണ് ഉണ്ടായത്. 117 പേരെ കാണാതായെന്നാണ് മ്യാന്‍മറില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകള്‍. ബാങ്കോക്കിലും മ്യാന്‍മറിലെ വിവിധയിടങ്ങളിലും അടിയന്തരാവസ്ഥ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. മ്യാന്‍മറിലെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ വലിയ നഗരമായ മണ്ഡലയാണ് ഭൂകമ്പത്തിന്‍റെ പ്രഭവകേന്ദ്രം. ഒന്നാമത്തെ ഭൂചലനത്തിന് പിന്നാലെ 6.4 തീവ്രത രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയ ഭൂചലനവും ഉണ്ടായി. മ്യാന്‍മറിലെ പ്രശസ്ത ആശ്രമമായ മാ സോ യാനെ ഉള്‍പ്പടെ തകര്‍ന്നുവീണു. റോഡുകളും കെട്ടിടങ്ങളും നാമാവശേഷമായി. 90 വര്‍ഷം പഴക്കമുള്ള ഡാം പൊട്ടി, പാലങ്ങള്‍ തകര്‍ന്നു, പ്രധാന നഗരങ്ങളെ ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന റോഡുകള്‍ ഇല്ലാതെയായി എന്നും വാര്‍ത്താ ഏജന്‍സിയായ എപി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ചെയ്യുന്നു.

സാധ്യമായ എല്ലാ സഹായങ്ങളും ലോകരാജ്യങ്ങള്‍ ചെയ്യണമെന്നും രക്ഷാപ്രവര്‍ത്തനത്തില്‍ പങ്കുചേരണമെന്നും മ്യാന്‍മര്‍ അഭ്യര്‍ഥിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതിനിടെ ഭൂചലനത്തില്‍ ദുരിതമനുഭവിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കായി 15 ടണ്‍ അവശ്യവസ്തുക്കള്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ വ്യോമസേന മ്യാന്‍മറിലേക്ക് എത്തിച്ചു. ഇതിന് പുറമെ രക്ഷാപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരുടെയും ആരോഗ്യവിദഗ്ധരുടെയും സംഘവും മ്യാന്‍മറിലെ ദുരിതബാധിത പ്രദേശത്തേക്ക് തിരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. സഹായം തുടരുമെന്ന് വിദേശകാര്യമന്ത്രി എസ്.ജയശങ്കര്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
